Is this engine skid compatible with the TRD offroad models? On my TRD offroad there's a crossmember running under the front radiator that looks like it will be in the way of the skid plate.

does the engine skid need to be removed to change the oil I noticed in the install video that the nuts on the back of the oil filter access were not welded to the skid which makes me think I will need to remove the skid to remove or install the oil filter access door
can the factory recovery hooks or points be put back on

2) It does not need to removed to perform an oil change.

The 4th Gen Tacoma non-offroad focused trims come without the additional welded front frame cross member that is on TRD Offroad, TRD Pro and Trailhunter trims. This prevents the fully mounting of OEM TRD Pro skid plates (two missing mounting points). Does your skid plate need these two mounting points? I know NTOP sells a cross member that adds back the two missing M8 mounting holes for the OEM plates, and I think other aftermarket plates. Does your skid plate need that cross member?

If the crossmembers are in the same locations, it will. However, we have not verified fitment on the 6M.

I just purchased and installed this skid plate. It is a nice piece of kit, and the install was easy. I am curious if there is part of the skid designed to be used as a jack point, now that my cross member is covered?

If you are in line with the frame or a crossmember, you can jack from the skid. However we don't recommend jacking from an unsupported portion of the skid plate.

The skid plate fits the 2024 Tacoma SR 6MT. You can easily access the oil plate. After you remove the factory tow hooks, you can bolt them back on top of the plate. I was able to install this by myself without lifting the truck. I used a case of water to hold the plate while I put the bolts in. Intall took around 30 minutes. IT DOES NOT COME WITH INSTRUCTIONS OR A PARTS LIST. I received extra hardware and was very confused when it first arrived. It was also missing the hole plugs mentioned in the video, I was told they would be shipping them to me. It was a long process working with customer service to get instructions to install it correctly. Chris and Joel were very responsive and patient with me. They worked with me and answered all of my questions and the plate was eventually installed. A+ customer service and the plate feels solid. Written instructions with diagrams, a parts list and tool list would have been a huge benefit.
