OK - maybe a different question. If you have a Thule bike rack like the one linked here mounted in the hitch (on maybe a 7" - 12" extender) will the swing-out clear the Thule rack when the Thule rack is folded down? Thanks
A
02/15/2021, 1:16:04 PM
It really depends on the vehicle model of bumper you are attaching this carrier to. In our experience it usually does not however on most vehicles.
Q
John • 02/15/2021, 4:55:34 PM
I like the modularity of the adventure carrier. Question - I understand to remove a carrier you just take off the bolt on the bottom and pull the whole thing out, spindle and all. But wouldn't the spindle just rotate freely in the bumper? How do you grab the spindle and stop it from rotating if the nut is tight and it's been on there a while? Thanks, probably overthinking it.
A
02/26/2021, 10:25:49 AM
There is enough tension from the top nut/carrier weight to hold it in place to break the bottom loose.
Q
Chris Durkee • 02/27/2021, 1:39:09 AM
Does it come with the latch bracket or does that come with the bumper? If they come with the bumper, would you sell them separately?
A
03/01/2021, 3:13:17 PM
They come with the carrier, please contact us directly to order them separately.

Q
Brent Taylor • 03/05/2021, 5:35:27 PM
I already have a custom steel bumper from a different company on my GX 470. Could the adventure carrier rear bumper swing-out possibly be made to work on my bumper?
A
03/08/2021, 1:18:58 PM
It would likely require fabrication on your end.

Q
James • 05/26/2021, 4:33:08 PM
Will this, LH side, close properly IF I have a Nash Fab Co. Curved ladder on the pass side also? I'm looking to open my rear door and open the Swing out on the opposite....
A
06/04/2021, 10:30:55 AM
As long as the swing and ladder are on opposite sides of the vehicle it should not be a problem. You can't run a hatch ladder and a swing on the same side however.
Q
Mark Pacis • 06/29/2021, 12:33:38 PM

Is there a max weight limit on the adventure carrier in its swing out state?
A
09/02/2021, 12:29:40 PM
We don't have an official weight limit, but we try and keep it under 200 lbs in our installs here. Easier on all the components, and easier to manage opening and closing the carrier.

Q
Doug • 09/01/2021, 9:36:21 AM
Can you add a 2" receiver for a bike rack on the end of the swingout to accept a platform bike carrier that could carry up to 4 mountain bikes? Kind of like the RIGd hitch tire carrier.
A

We have tested this, and the amount of flex at the end of the back rack was unacceptable.
Q

Where is this rear bumper you have for the Tacoma? It doesn't exist on your site...
A
09/15/2021, 3:20:32 PM
We no longer offer the cut style rear bumper. Our current rear bumper doesn't require cutting the bed sides and still allows for carriers.
Q
Alex • 10/02/2021, 11:11:23 AM
Will 37” tires be fine with this?
A
10/05/2021, 5:33:34 PM
The swing can handle it no problem, but it may be an issue with the tire blocking the taillight depending on vehicle model. Contact our customer service team for more help on this.
Q
Frank • 10/22/2021, 5:14:01 PM
Once the spindle and gears are installed, if i need to remove the swing out arm to transport larger drywall and have my tailgate down, how is it removed?...is it pretty simple?...if it's just the bottom bolt keeping it on, when you're removing it does the spindle and gears need to be removed, or does it come off in 1 piece?
A
10/25/2021, 11:38:23 AM
You can remove the spindle cap and nut on top only, then lift the carrier off of the spindle. You can then leave the spindle in place or remove it as well and cap off the spindle sleeve.

A
05/06/2022, 11:19:33 AM
This is the Adventure Carrier and it comes with the mounting hardware to install it on one of our Strike Rear Bumpers. It will work with the GX460 Rear Strike Bumper. Lights are not included.
Q
Chris • 06/04/2022, 1:11:58 PM
for Strike install on Gx470 If I use right side swing out for mounting stock rim & tire will it block oem camera. it appears there is some adjustability for tire mount but not sure.
A
06/06/2022, 2:52:11 PM
There is some adjustability for the tire mount. With a tire on the carrier, at least part of the camera view will be obstructed. Depending on your setup, you may want to relocate the camera to the spare using our Camera Relocation Bracket.
Q

Q
Eric Thierjung • 11/08/2022, 11:04:02 AM
What is the weight rating for each Adventure swing out? I'm thinking about a spare tire and receiver for bike rack on one side at approximately 175lbs total.
A
11/14/2022, 12:42:37 PM
We don't have an official weight limit, but we try and keep it under 200 lbs in our installs here. Easier on all the components and easier to manage to open and closing the carrier. Depending on the bike rack length and leverage you may need to stay well under that weight, though. We also recommend careful periodic inspection of the carrier, spindle, and latch with this much weight.

A
01/30/2023, 4:39:19 PM
You unbolt the two pieces of the license plate bracket and disconnect the wires before removing the spare. Very quick process.

Awesome setup. I am typing this review from Whitehorse, YT. The Adventure Carrier and fuel rack helped me “save” a motorcyclist who ran out of gas on the Alaska Highway. These carriers are beasts! I run a 11 pound propane tank on one side (with a DIY table that holds my stove) and ten gallons of fuel on the other side. These carriers are tweakable to your needs. Expensive yes…but cry once and enjoy what they provide you for capability.
Note From Victory 4x4: Awesome Tracy, thank you!
Daric Morton (Tucson) | March 26th, 2022
I purchased both the left and right Adventure Carriers. Extremely well built and strong. I love the open design. I mounted the spare tire on one and my traction boards and hi-lift jack on the other one. Easy and secure. DOES NOT RATTLE
Adam (Knoxville, TN) | May 11th, 2021
Why other manufacturers haven’t caught onto the modularity design is beside me. So much functionality in just one piece. What I love the most about the adventure carrier is how versatile it can be. Most “overland” folks buy stuff because it looks cool and they get stuck with a bumper that (from other manufacturers ) can’t be changed later when they realize they didn’t really need or like something they thought they just had to have because they saw it on Instagram. This bumper allows you to at any time change that setup up to what is actually important or needed. Unlike others where you spend a months salary or more on a bumper that well you’re just stuck with your decision and can’t do anything about it without permanently removing or adding. I love the fact that I can have my dual Jerry holder and fold down table when I’m going out for a weekend or a week then when I get home I can shed all that. I also love the fact that when I go somewhere I won’t need 50+lb fuel and water on my truck I can switch it up and add the maxtrax and rotopax holder and still be covered. Or if I want to run a bare setup I’m good to go. The adventure carries are what sold me on the victory bumper and I don’t think you’ll find anything else near the quality and modularity as these.
Bird Dog Overland (Chicago) | March 24th, 2021
These function great and look wonderful. Some people only get one side, but I’m glad I got two. Spare tire on the passenger and ladder attachment, hi lift mount, and a license plate mount on the driver.
