Q Bob • 03/25/2020, 9:08:09 PM Can you tell me the capacity of the rack, while driving and parked. Ty
A 04/06/2020, 1:46:00 PM Toyota rates the 4Runner roof with a factory rack at "Max load 165 lbs evenly distributed." Our rack itself can handle significantly more weight than that, and we've had 250 lbs dynamic weight on it without issue, static capacity is certainly well above that. All these weight will be at your discretion as they are above Toyota "recommended" capacities. If you need more information please contact us directly at [email protected]
Q Jordan • 03/26/2020, 8:46:22 AM How does the factory factory rail length work out with roof top tents or 270 degree awnings? Will most accessories work with the rails such as bicycle fork mounts?
A 04/17/2020, 5:09:59 PM Both lengths racks work great with all of those things. The full length rack just gives you room for more than a standard size RTT.
Q Jonathan Stein • 04/02/2020, 1:08:29 PM Do you need to use your cross bars to install? If so, how many cross bars for half and full rack?
A 04/06/2020, 2:43:37 PM The 3/4 rack comes with 5 bars, the full length comes with 8. Yes, the rack is designed around our specific cross bars.
Q AARON M LUCAS • 04/07/2020, 1:06:40 AM If I wanted to order the lightbar cutout front fairing after the fact, could I?
A 04/17/2020, 5:09:59 PM You would have to call us, but yes it is available separately.
Q BRANDON • 04/07/2020, 4:16:59 PM WOULD THIS BE COMPATIBLE WITH A SMITTYBILT OVERLANDER TENT? OR WOULD THERE BE A WAY TO GET A RACK MADE SO THAT THE CROSSBARS ARE EVEN WITH THE SIDE RAILS FOR THE TENT TO SET LEVEL?
A 04/17/2020, 5:09:59 PM That tent mounts pretty universally, so it should fit fine.
                    Q WILLIAM ALEXANDER • 04/12/2020, 7:19:44 PM Will the full-sized rach fit on a 202 with a moonroof
                    A 04/17/2020, 6:07:22 PM Yes, no problems.
Q Jay • 04/14/2020, 9:33:02 AM What size are the accessory slots on the rails for adding hardware and different accessories?
A 04/17/2020, 6:47:30 PM The slots are 1" apart, accept 1/4" hardware, and run the width of the rack.
Q Ryan Daniel • 04/14/2020, 5:03:15 PM What is the length of the cross bars?
                    A 04/17/2020, 6:52:23 PM Right around 47"
Q Andrew L. MacLaggan • 04/15/2020, 9:55:39 PM How much does the rack weigh?
A 04/17/2020, 6:47:30 PM Around 50 lbs for the full rack, 40 lbs for the standard rack.
Q john choi • 04/22/2020, 8:06:58 PM Does the newest version of this rack come with the front mount that sits inside to drip rail and not the roofLLP
A 04/23/2020, 4:41:41 PM Yes it does, that is the standard mount now.
Q Thao Moua • 05/09/2020, 12:49:01 PM Can I use a full rack, even if I have a sun/moon roof? And also, will it still allow enough height to operate and use the sun/moon with it installed. I know it seems like a dumb question, but I really like the full rack look over the half rack.
A 05/11/2020, 2:36:52 PM Yes, you still will have full operation of the factory sunroof with either rack.
Q Thomas H. • 05/17/2020, 10:36:48 AM Could you provide part numbers or links to the recommended tape and sealant?
A 05/19/2020, 2:35:51 PM On the tape just search the web for 3M Scotchgard Clear Paint Protection Bulk Film. It comes in various widths and lenghts. 1" or 2" wide by 5 feet will be plenty, but you can always cut down larger sizes. On the sealant we like Permatex Ultra Black, also available in various sized tubes.
Q Anthony Coggins • 05/28/2020, 9:15:17 PM I have a Yakima Skybox 21. Two questions...can I safely attach it to this rack? Also, is it possible to attach it far enough forward to where it will not stop the tail gate from opening fully? Thank! Anthony 2014 4Runner Limited
A 06/01/2020, 10:08:59 AM Not sure if the Yakima clamps would work with the roof clearance, but there is probably a safe way to bolt the box directly to the aluminum rails. Maybe Yakima has information on surface mounting their products? If the box fits up there now, no reason it won't using our rack over the factory one.
Q Grant • 05/31/2020, 8:33:36 PM Hi there! Can you please provide the width and thickness of the crossbars? Thanks!
                    A 06/01/2020, 10:08:59 AM They are 1 x 2"
Q Daniel Rosenthal • 06/04/2020, 1:08:17 PM (1) I have Thule system on my sedan. I was wondering if those bicycle and kayak specific parts can be mounted on the Victory 4Runner roof rack. (2) It really works with the sunroof?! (3) How about the sharkfin? Any experience with radio/GPS reception with the Victory rack? Thank you! -dan
A 06/04/2020, 4:49:51 PM The Thule stuff isn't directly compatible with the crossbars of our racks. Customers have creatively mated them together in various ways though. Yes, it works with the sunroof. It physically fits fine with the sharkfin, although the back fairing can effect signal in some circumstances.
Q Lee • 06/04/2020, 7:00:55 PM What is the dynamic and static weight rating to the full size roof rack?
A 06/05/2020, 3:02:09 PM Toyota rates the 4Runner roof with a factory rack at "Max load 165 lbs evenly distributed." Our rack itself can handle significantly more weight than that, and we've had 250 lbs dynamic weight on it without issue, static capacity is certainly well above that. All these weight will be at your discretion as they are above Toyota "recommended" capacities. If you need more information please contact us directly at [email protected]
Q Trevor • 06/07/2020, 11:35:45 AM Will the full rack work with a sunroof and the sunroof still be functional?
A 06/10/2020, 4:43:34 PM Yes the sunroof is still functional.
Q Amir Yazdi • 06/09/2020, 4:58:16 PM Are these compatible with roof boxes (ie Thule Flow 606?)
A 06/10/2020, 4:43:34 PM If the roof box can mount to a flat surface, they usually will work with some extra hardware. Sorry we don't have experience doing this however.
Q Brett J Ratell • 06/12/2020, 11:27:44 AM How does the powdercoating hold up to Michigan winters?
                    A 06/16/2020, 10:12:23 AM Holds up fantastic.
Q Cody • 06/20/2020, 11:18:34 AM What is the overall height of the rack? Trying to see how much taller the top of the vehicle will be after adding the rack.
A 06/24/2020, 5:36:22 PM The top of the rack is right about 2.5" above the surface of the roof when installed.
Q Kevin • 06/24/2020, 6:17:40 AM The holes that run along the sides of your rack, what is the round about dimensions of those holes? I ask as I'm looking to install side lights behind them.
A 06/24/2020, 5:36:22 PM They all vary slightly and are not completely rectangular. Surface mount lights would work better.
Q Tony • 06/27/2020, 2:19:56 AM Can you please provide some pics of the standard rack on the 4runner I want to see how it looks
A 07/01/2020, 10:08:43 AM The photos in the slides above are all we currently have.
Q Keith • 06/29/2020, 8:35:34 PM How long is the full rack?
A 07/01/2020, 10:08:43 AM It has about 86" of usable length.
Q David • 07/02/2020, 9:31:27 PM What is the width of the 4th Gen 4Runner fack? Can I fit a full width piece of plywood on it? How far below the side rails do the crossbars sit?
A 07/07/2020, 2:39:07 PM They are 47" wide, they are .5" below the side rails.
Q Alejandro • 07/06/2020, 4:43:42 PM What are the assembled dimensions of the 4Runner 5th gen full rack?
                    A 07/07/2020, 2:39:07 PM Roughly 88 x 47
Q Todd • 07/13/2020, 3:32:47 PM How long is the factory length version?
A 07/15/2020, 1:48:15 PM Approximately 58" at the base of the rack.
Q Matt • 07/14/2020, 4:36:42 PM What is the overall highest point of the rack, fairing included from the top of the body? If stock body height is 71.5 inches what would the highest measurement be?
A 07/15/2020, 1:48:15 PM Rack sits 2.5" above the highest point of the roof (center point).
Q Tony • 07/16/2020, 10:24:15 PM What is the racks weight?
                    A 07/21/2020, 11:32:11 AM Weight: 49 (lbs)
Q Florin • 07/18/2020, 6:48:54 PM For a 2020 4Runner, can the roof rack cross bars be easily removed so that if I prefer to have un obstructed sunroof view or access the items on the rack through the sunroof - from the car?
A 07/21/2020, 11:32:11 AM You can unbolt them, but you would change the load capacity of the rack. We recommend using the rack with all the crossbars installed.
Q LS • 07/24/2020, 9:28:51 AM I installed the rack and the front feet do not come anywhere close to the "gutter" track like the install video shows. It looks like they are completely different from the ones in the video and sit on the roof itself. Is this a new design?
A 08/05/2020, 11:01:24 AM Please contact customer service at [email protected]
Q Greg • 08/04/2020, 0:03:29 AM I have a 2007 Limited 4th gen 4 Runner with a stock roof rack that has about .25" clearance as I drive into my garage. Is this rack equal to or lower in height than what I have. I understand that your rack is 2.5 inches from the highest point of the roof but I need to be 100% confident before purchasing.
A 08/05/2020, 11:51:45 AM We wouldn't risk it if you are that close.
Q Fred Capati • 08/13/2020, 1:36:00 AM What's the recommended torque in tightening the bolts?
                    A 08/14/2020, 9:30:53 AM 60-70 inch-pounds (in∙lb) should be fine on everything.
Q Jude Y. • 08/16/2020, 1:57:51 AM I have a Gobi ladder on my 2020 4runner, does this work with it or do I have to do some modifications?
A 08/18/2020, 11:15:37 AM There may be some contact between the items with the hatch fully opened.
Q Daniel Pokrop • 08/16/2020, 11:45:05 PM I have a 2020 4Runner with moonroof. I’d prefer the full length rack, although it would likely impede the moonroof. Would it be possible to leave out the crossbars above the moonroof for daily driving, and install them only for trips where I’d need to use the full rack space?
A 08/18/2020, 11:15:37 AM The moonroof functions fine with the full rack.
Q Carlos • 08/22/2020, 3:14:19 PM Is the roof rack substantially increase noise when on the highway with the light cutout? Does this rack come with any noise reduction trim?
A 08/26/2020, 10:01:29 AM The rack does come with noise reduction trim. The added noise from the rack is negligible.
Q Anthony • 09/03/2020, 8:25:49 PM Can the factory length 4runner rack fit a GX460? If not can a factory length rack be made for it?
A 09/09/2020, 3:00:07 PM It won't work with the GX. We only offer the full length racks for the GX at this time.
Q Zen Mayhugh • 09/09/2020, 12:46:47 PM Do you sell or recommend specific cargo boxes?
A 09/09/2020, 3:00:07 PM We do not sell or recommend any specific boxes, no.
Q Andrew • 09/18/2020, 12:01:12 PM How do you mount kayak mounts to this rack?
A 09/24/2020, 11:01:43 AM Either by bolting universal J-mounts to the rails, or by just laying the kayaks on foam on top of the rack and strapping them down.
Q Nate Paul • 09/23/2020, 5:08:20 PM Would I still be able to tilt up the sunroof on my 08 4runner with the full rack? I'm assuming opening it wouldn't be a problem since in stays within the body of the car.
A 09/24/2020, 11:01:43 AM Yes, tilting the sunroof is no problem.
Q Anthony • 10/01/2020, 12:28:20 PM Can this rack be installed to a 2019 highlander?
                    A 10/01/2020, 1:40:01 PM No
Q Joe • 10/17/2020, 5:37:34 PM Do you recommend ski racks that will work with the roof rack?
A 10/20/2020, 7:03:20 PM We have found many Yakima mounts work. The only issue could possibly be clearance between the bottom of the clamp and the roof, but usually this is easily worked around by moving the mounts toward the outside of the rack.
Q Ramses • 10/29/2020, 0:48:19 AM Hi this might be a dumb question, but if I have a sunroof would a full rack be a good choice or would I be better with a shorty? Like if you get a full rack do you just not put the bars where the sun roof is?
A 11/03/2020, 4:03:33 PM The sunroof operates fine with the full rack. Just be mindful of loading the bar above the sunroof as it is possible to flex it if it's loaded all by itself with an accessory.
Q Matt Stuart • 11/26/2020, 12:44:14 PM What are the dimensions of the rectangle cut outs on the side rails?
                    A 11/30/2020, 5:04:51 PM They vary from 4 x ~1 to 4 x ~2.25"
Q Kenny • 12/07/2020, 10:11:23 AM Do I need the RTT mounts in order to install my tent, or can I mount it directly to the cross bars?
A 12/09/2020, 4:56:08 PM You can mount directly to the crossbars, yes. It really just depends on your tent hardware.
Q Philip • 12/10/2020, 9:56:38 PM In the photos it looks like the 4th gen version only has 7 cross bars. Is that the case or do both full racks have 8 cross bars?
                    A 12/14/2020, 2:50:32 PM Correct, the 4th Gen has 7 crossbars, the 5th Gen has 8.
Q Robert • 12/19/2020, 4:56:34 PM Why is the price listed at $699 on the ALL PRODUCTS page but when I click to see the product the price jumps to $899?
A 12/23/2020, 5:37:41 PM The 5th gen standard length with no lightbar fairing is $699 (V4RRK-5G-S-0-PC) The price increases from there with options.
Q Alex • 12/20/2020, 9:55:21 PM What are the dimensions of the standard rack?

A 02/08/2021, 11:48:56 AM The rack clears the shark fin. We have not heard of any issues with satellite signal with the rack itself. Obviously anything you put on it can cause issues.

Q Chris • 03/10/2021, 0:29:24 AM This might be a dumb question, but is there an easy/effective way to load up luggage/pelican cases on this rack? Or are separate accessories required?
A 03/16/2021, 3:46:53 PM A custom mounting solution would be needed to mount cases. Many customers drill holes in the bottoms and bolt them directly to the rack crossbars. Or you may be able to come up with a system to clamp around the bars.

A 03/16/2021, 3:46:53 PM The mounting and profiles are different between the two.

Q Jorge Morales • 04/28/2021, 8:14:38 PM I bought the full roof rack with light bar cut out. I did not purchase the light bar Victory sells due to tight budget for now, and the light bar I installed seems to be making a loud humming noise once my speed goes above 60mph. Any suggestions or ideas to get rid of that while I save up for the Baja lights?
A 05/05/2021, 1:00:12 PM You can check to see if the fins on the back of your bar are making this noise by strategically covering them in duct tape as a test.
Q scott • 05/05/2021, 10:38:46 PM do you have a model in stock for the 3rd generation 4runner that is 3/4 size and doesn’t have rails over the sunroof? also is there no ladder for the 3rd gen model?
A 05/12/2021, 2:02:55 PM We only offer one length in the 3rd gen model. No ladder yet for the 3rd gens.
Q Shiv • 05/24/2021, 10:28:52 PM The answer to the deer question is by far the best. YEET!

A 06/04/2021, 10:30:55 AM Yes, our Universal Tire Mount (UNI-TM) will bolt on our Roof Rack Accessory Mount (VRKACM) then to the rack.
Q Jamie Diaz • 05/31/2021, 1:52:03 PM Can I order the wind deflector with the lightbar cut out with the standard rack?
A 06/04/2021, 10:30:55 AM Sorry, we don't have that designed. It would be pretty short to accommodate the light and would mostly just light up your roof that far back.
Q Mona Bachmann • 06/10/2021, 8:38:10 PM Can you powder coat this rack a custom color (white)? Alternatively, can you sell it either with bare aluminum, or with the primer coat, so that I can get it coated myself?

Q Huynh La • 07/12/2021, 9:12:50 PM Can I install the RacksBrax quick release awning brackets directly to this roof rack? If not, can I install a L bracket and install the RackBrax to it or I have to buy the awning accessory from you for me to be able to install it?
A 07/23/2021, 10:58:16 AM Our awning brackets look they would work for sure, a standard L bracket may work as well, but we haven't tested those removable awning mounts ourselves at the shop.
Q Charles • 07/18/2021, 1:37:54 PM I have a question regarding weight support. I would like to attach a flat plate (like your accessory plate) to use as a seating platform for photography. Would the rack support a 200lb man seated across a few cross bars. I read Toyota static and dynamic weight stuff but I cant say I know how that translates to what Im trying to accomplish. Thanks.
A 07/23/2021, 11:15:25 AM Yeah, that would likely not be an issue. We would mount the plate nearest to the side for the most capacity.
Q Amanda • 07/29/2021, 11:03:32 AM With the full length roof rack do you have to drill additional holes in the front? SR5P 2017.
A 08/12/2021, 4:01:01 PM You do not. Our front mounts sit in the rain rail and work as a friction fit.
Q Brian Houchens • 08/02/2021, 1:06:08 AM I’m getting a tepui autana 3 which has a packed dimension of 56x48x12. Will the standard length rack accommodate that tent? Thanks!
A 08/12/2021, 4:01:01 PM Should be fine, you may have to use our our tent riser mounts (VRKRTT) for clearance as the tent will hang over slightly in the front our rear.
Q Grant • 08/05/2021, 9:33:29 AM We want to carry a full size open canoe on the roof. We usually carry it upside down resting on the gunwale and it overhangs front and rear, would the full length rack be able to support this? Looking at the pictures it seems the the forward most cross bar sits above the fairing but im not so sure at the rear. 2018 4runner.
A 08/12/2021, 4:01:01 PM Full length would work well. We recommend securing a boat that long to the front and rear of the vehicle as well. They can generate a lot of lift in the right conditions.
Q Margaret Drumsta • 08/22/2021, 1:58:38 PM Are there any specific brands of tents that work best (or not at all) with the full rack installed?
A 09/02/2021, 3:39:52 PM We've had good luck with Freespirit tents, but our customers run a wide range of brands.

A 10/28/2021, 11:48:20 AM Cutout fairing designed for 41.25" max lens housing width single row LED light bar. Up to 43.5" (mounting stud width) bar will fit with our mounts, but trimming of the fairing will be required
Q Marc • 10/21/2021, 4:27:36 PM Can the 4th gen rack be installed on a 5th gen 4runner? Are the mounting locations identical?

A 12/13/2021, 9:37:12 AM It does not. The moon roof will work with the rack installed.

Q Lopez • 03/19/2022, 7:24:53 PM Is this rack a good option if your intended use it to tie down cargo like luggage, pelican boxes, etc.? I see that there are openings on the side rails so I just want to clarify the intended use for it overall.
A 03/21/2022, 8:59:59 AM Absolutely! Lots of places to attach bungee cords, cargo nets, or tie-down straps.
Q Nathan Shiba • 03/23/2022, 3:20:21 PM Would the Frontrunner #8 Bolts (and accessories) fit into the crossbar channels? TY!

Q Charles Bond • 04/06/2022, 2:10:08 PM I was wondering what the weight limit for the full roof rack on a 5th gen 4runner would be. Not the Toyota weight limitations, but your structural limitations of just your roof rack. I'm looking into puting a 23 zero walkabout 87 series tent on it which is 200lbs and then the additional weight of my wife, Myself and our two kids which would put the total roof weight to roughly 600lbs on the roof rack. Is this going to be structurally sound? I'm already reading about the weight limitations to the 4runner.
A 04/13/2022, 12:12:33 PM The rack will be able to handle more weight than the roof of the 4Runner will.
Q Jeff Hylton • 04/12/2022, 9:25:50 PM I plan on putting a 12' Kayak on top as the major use of the rack. I'm worried about the thin edges cutting into the yak sliding it up or tying it down. Anyone have experience with this on your rack. What about the light bar. Can it take the weight?
A 04/13/2022, 9:27:23 AM I have had no issues with my kayaks and I tie them down directly to the rack. If you are worried about it, you could add kayak mounts or padding to the rack. The lightbar should be fine as well.

                    Terrible rack
                    (Oregon) | December 18th, 2021
Got this for our 5th gen and may will be the one year mark where we have been working with victory 4x4 and haven’t came to a resolution. No refund, no replacement rack. The set up we received has bent side rails, so it won’t seat and loves yo rattle the bolts out. We’ve sent many photos and videos and been told “instillation error” tell me how a bent fabricated rail is an instillation error and not a manufacture error? So this $1000 rack has been sitting disassemble in the garage for months as it’s not usable. Save yourself the headache, money and terrible customer service and look elsewhere.
                    Disappointed
                    (Virginia beach) | December 2nd, 2021
Here we go again since victory doesn’t want to put my review up. First off this roof rack is expensive. Expensive means it should fit perfectly and I should never have to touch it again. The passenger side rail wouldn’t fit correctly in the rain gutter and I had to shim the roof rack with washers to make it sit right. The passenger rail was warped bad enough it wouldn’t even sit in the groove and ended up ripping all my paint off and started rusting. Then if I put anything on the back of the rack or the middle the front lifts making the front wind guard vibrate against the roof VERY aggressively. I’ve had to adjust it EVERY time I put something on the rack. The. There’s the insane initial price of the rack fallowed but the insane price for every bracket or bolt for this. I needed 4 screws and 4 t nuts. 17.99. That’s just downright ridiculous. Also the hardware on my roof rack is putting streaks down my paint when it rains. To say the least I’m not happy with my purchase.

Shipped without all the parts and poor customer service
                    (Colorado) | July 7th, 2020
We received the roof rack and started the install. Once we got to the step to mount it to the roof, we opened the packaging to find they hadn't sent 1 of the 4 mounts you use to secure it to the roof. Called throughout the day on Friday, and no one answered. I finally got a hold of someone on Monday, and expressed the obvious frustration that they would miss shipping an important part. They said they wouldn't overnight the part to me because it was too expensive, but they'd do 2 day shipping. Then, I got a call later in the day that if I wanted to have it shipped 2 day, I would have to pay for shipping. I called back and was told "mistakes like this happen, the guys probably just missed putting it in the package and it's not something we are going to cover the cost of sending that quickly to you". To get this installed, I had to take PTO from work, and drive 5 hours round trip, yet they wanted me to pay for the shipping a part they were supposed to send in the first place. The missing part resulted in having to cancel a camping trip, since I couldn't install the roof top tent on the roof rack. The customer service rep was completely apathetic about the whole thing. Be warned, they don't have anything in place to make sure all the parts are in the package prior to shipping. I would return this in a heartbeat if I wasn't going to be charged a re-stocking fee. If you're looking for a roof rack, I would absolutely look for another company to buy from.
Note From Victory 4x4: We apologize for the mis-shipment and confusion on overnight shipping. If there is anything else we can do, please feel free to reach out.
