How difficult is removing the spare after this is installed? Looks almost as if most, if not all of the bracketry has to come off to do this?
A

You remove the license plate/camera bracket with one wing nut, disconnect the wiring and camera, then unbolt the tire like normal. It's very quick.

For a 4th Gen 4R with no camera, would I remove the factory wbulbs from over the plate, splice the line one of those bulbs is attached to to your LED, and attach it to the license plate holder as designed? Thanks
A
07/23/2021, 11:15:25 AM
Yes, that would work fine.

For a 5th gen 4Runner, would the kit, either Universal or 4Runner specific, work with a drop down hitch tire carrier? I wonder if the wiring is long enough or would work with this type of carrier, same with the camera relocation if I decided to go that route.
A
09/02/2021, 12:29:40 PM
We haven't tested that kind of carrier specifically.
Q

How does camera relocation affect the backup guide lines on the display?
A
09/07/2021, 2:12:09 PM
It will depend on which carrier you relocate the camera to, but moving the camera will move the lines some, making them less accurate. There will be minimal difference in the field of view however.

Will this fit to my RIGd ULTRAswing hitch carrier 5th gen 4runner?
A
10/05/2021, 5:33:34 PM
We have not tested that specifically, however it looks like it will work fine. You may need to supplement the wiring in the kit, however.

I’ve already relocated my license plate (on one of the swing outs) and just want to move the camera to the center of the tire. Is it possible to install this kit on the 470 without the plate holder?
A
12/01/2021, 9:20:49 AM
Yes, you can leave the plate holder bracket off and just use the camera mount.

21, SR5 has an extra ‘green’ wire in the factory loom, where does it go?
A
03/04/2022, 2:33:24 PM
Thanks for your help figuring this solution out Joshua: On 21 4Runners there may be 5 wires in the loom we talk about on the video. You will see the bare wire we discuss in the video, as well as a green wire. If you see this green wire, tie the brown wire we give you to it as opposed to the bare wire. Your loom may also be black instead of gray. Feel free to contact our tech support team for assistance.

Any swing out with a flat plate mount with wheel studs for the spare tire, yes.

Will the Universal kit fit a lug pattern as small as 5x4 or 5x100mm? I have a Crosstrek and no other manufacturer's universal kits fit one that small.
A
01/30/2023, 4:39:19 PM
The smallest pattern it will fit without modification is 5 on 4.5" You may be able to modify it to fit your pattern, but you would need to make sure that the bracket could fit through your wheel center bore as well. That width is roughly 1.7"

The kit for the 200 is not shown in the pictures. Want to confirm this is not a universal kit and comes with everything needed to install. Thank you

When you select a specific vehicle from the drop down screen, it will include parts for that specific model.

For a Gen 3 4Runner Limited (1998), with an aftermarket backup camera, should I choose the Universal or the 4Runner specific relocation kit?
A
12/14/2023, 10:06:46 AM
You would want the Universal kit, our 4R kit is designed to accommodate the factory camera.

Can i mount this to the other swingout and not the tire carrier? I have my license plate on my jerry can carrier. Id like to put the camera on this setup. Is that recommended?
A
01/19/2024, 10:18:51 AM
This kit is specifically designed to mount to the tire mount, but you may be able to modify it to attach to your Jerry Can mount.

While you are wiring in the new harness for the 5th Gen, is there a way to disable the back up guide lines since the camera will be offset with the carrier?
A
01/19/2024, 10:18:09 AM
That is not something that we have tried to do.

This is a very nice complete kit for relocating the license plate, light and backup camera. I chose this kit due to its completeness and the fact that they provide a nice housing for the camera and its wiring connection. Other solutions I looked at only give you a cheap tab to mount the camera to. The system is also very adjustable for different width tires and wheels. The kit shipped with EVERYTHING I needed for the install with the exception of a few zip ties. Overall I am VERY happy with the kit and would purchase again.
